The club has been built on a long-standing tradition
of volunteerism. The founders of the club, members of all ages, and even members of the community with no affiliation
to the club have put in countless hours to make the club what it is today. The expansive property, with numerous buildings,
ranges and trails takes a tremendous amount of work to maintain in tip-top shape. With your help, we can surely expect to
see our club remain a source of pride for all members for years to come. The Stockbridge Sportsmen's Club cannot sustain itself
without your help. When you come up to shoot your bow, rifle or pistol, walk the trails, or watch the experts break some clay
pigeons take a moment to make sure the club is a little better than when you got there. Don't wait for someone to ask for
your help. We are asking. Take the initiative to tackle a small project on your own- no permission necessary. So, you think something could be better if it was just....... Well, just do it!
Got an idea? Get after it. Want to bounce a big idea off the board? We are happy to hear you ideas for improvement. Shoot us an email and we'll
discuss it at the next meeting.
No Brainers: Ways to help in just
one minute while you're enjoying YOUR CLUB:
Throw spent cartridges into the brass container or toss tattered targets into the trash (say that five times fast!).
Empty the garbage (the dumpster
is just behind the clubhouse).
Pile up destroyed target
butts/ pallets neatly into a pile for spring burning.
Build a new target.
cardboard on the target butt for the next shooter.
Got a little time to lend a hand
for a one-man project? The following are some quick projects that just need doing:
Build new target butts
Clean up pallet debris
the sides of the range
carpet on the tables. Carpet is there but you'll need a razor knife and stable gun.
Build a bench for spectators along the back wall (left side as you enter). Materials
are there for you to complete the job. Bring a saw, screws and a driver.
Got a tractor w/ a bachhoe attachment and like to run it but you ran out of projects at home? Bring
it on up and re-cut trenches along the sides as they have filled in over the years. Swales need to be cut across the
range to divert water to the sides.
Build target butts. Done - but always need more.
Toss destroyed butts
Right the fence- Done
Clear brush along left side of range. Done
Re-stock targets. Done - but always need more.
Outdoor Archery Range:
Clear the trails - trees are always falling and brush it
always encroaching on our trails.
a chains saw, loppers, or some pruning shears and go for a walk.
Outdoor butts need a rebuild. Stop by to get the dimensions. We'll reimburse for materials - just call first.
More projects are being added to the page. If you see something that needs attention let us know or tackle it yourself.
If you happen to knock one or more of these off the list please shoot us an email and let us know what you did.
